Pier & Beam Foundation Repair and Installation

Common in older homes, pier and beam foundations are made of brick, stone, or concrete piers that sit on top of concrete footings or slabs. These piers extend vertically from the ground on the concrete footing under a home. The vertical piers reinforce the stability of the beams, often made of wood or steal, that run horizontally under the floor of a home. Together, the piers and beams support the weight of the entire house. Unlike slab foundations, which sit directly on the ground and are prone to cracks due to shifts in the earth under a house, pier and beam foundations are elevated. The elevation helps prevent flooding that can occur in other homes.
